This piece is the conjunction between the one of the sun and the one of the moon, I tried to get close to the concept of two heavenly bodies intertwining in a cycle, an eclipse, approaching this idea in a symbolic aspect instead of just a graphic aspect. Thats why it doesnt resemble an eclipse in the most direct sense.

To be able to explore the intertwining of two heavenly bodies in a cycle, I did study its astrological, astronomical and symbolical meanings in history, but to be able to represent it in an art piece I had to combine certain things from the Sun piece and the Moon piece. From the Moon I took sixteen of the eighteen steps of the phases of the moon, both from the outer and inner pattern, arranged in the outer and middle section of this piece respectively. From the Sun I didn't only take the crown but the pattern of three sections of the main body of the design to represent not only the phases of the sun, but the phases of an eclipse, when it starts, when the crown and syn
